A place that asks nothing from you.
Moss Hollow was built low and small on purpose. The roof has gone green, the beeches lean in close, and the whole place is arranged around one wood stove and one deep window seat.
There's no wifi and barely any phone signal, which most guests notice as relief by the second evening. The bath sits outside under the branches; the water is heated by the same fire that warms the room.
- One room for two, with a raised bed under a north window, a wood stove and a window seat wide enough to spend the day in.
- The outdoor bath is wood-fired: light it after your walk and it's ready by dusk. Firewood, kindling and matches are stocked.
- No wifi is installed and the signal is unreliable — this is the intention rather than a limitation.
- Kitchen is small but complete: two rings, a good pan, coffee, and a cold larder rather than a large fridge.
Deep beech woodland in the Belgian Ardennes, about two hours from Brussels and reachable from Luxembourg in under ninety minutes.
Park at the top of the track and walk the last hundred metres — the point is that no vehicle reaches the door.
On arrival
Leave the car at the track, carry your bag in, put the kettle on.
Afternoon
Light the bath fire, then walk the beech ridge while the water heats.
Dusk
Bath outside under the branches until you've stopped thinking in sentences.
Evening
Stove, soup, no screens — there's nowhere to plug in anyway.
Morning
Birdsong wakes you earlier than an alarm would, and it doesn't feel early.
